CTM Department hires new secretary!

For many of us it is difficult to imagine the department without Mel Kerber behind the desk! Mel has moved on as many of you know, to pursue her dog training business. In her place we are glad to have Melissa Lincoln at the helm. Melissa joined us last August and she comes from Athletics. She bring with her 11 years of experience here at KU! Melissa can be found in the first office when you enter the CTM office area. It has not taken her very long to get the lay of the land. She signs out equipment, manages the phones, takes care of students and generally runs the place! Next time you are on campus be sure to stop by and say Hi! We are so glad to have her onboard!
Dr. Matthew McKeague has returned to our Department as an Assistant Professor after spending some time out in Los Angeles as a comedy writer and video editor. He also recently released a comedy book titled “Darker Seuss: Extra Grim Fairy Tales of Even Grimmer Existence” that he enthusiastically says is available on Amazon right now and is unashamedly trying to guilt you into buying it. *Cough cough* Matt’s the advisor to a new club in the department, Laugh Track, that focuses on sketch comedy writing and production, and he is using all of his comedic background in a new class he designed titled Comedy Writing and Production for Sitcoms and Screen Media.

Welcome two new faces to the Department!

Say Hello to Angela Pinaglia, who is originally from Miami, FL currently lives in Baltimore.
She worked in K-12 education for nearly 10 years before going back to school to study film. Angela has her MFA from American University.
She taught as an adjunct there in the School of Communication, and also co-led 3 groups of freshman to Nicaragua for an interdisciplinary course that incorporated media production, education, and science. Angela is currently in production on her first feature length documentary, Synchro, about the little known sport of synchronized ice skating and its goal of becoming an Olympic sport.
She is also Producer/co-writer on Riding Wild, an observational documentary about a BMX-lifer who dreams big and bushwhacks a secret bike trail on a patch of forgotten woods to escape the tough streets of Baltimore. The film is nearly completed and about to be submitted to film festivals. Angela is teaching Intro to Cinema and Television and Media Production and Field Production and we are very pleased to have her joining us for this academic year.
